My Weekend II - Grandnya Kaamatan Kota Marudu

Wednesday, May 26, 2010
Okay, satu pembaharuan. Ramainya orang. Mesti susah mau pass through ni. Terus teringat tag photographer kawan bagi. Apalagi, lepas keluarkan peralatan menembak, gantung tag di leher, berdiri menunggu dekat pintu mengharap ahli RELA nampak kewujudan diri yang kerdil ini :p

Nasib baik. Wah, ramainya orang. Sudah ramai photographer yang sedia beraksi. Cepat-cepat saya mendapatkan ruang yang strategik. Tiba-tiba ternampak pula wajah yang sangat familiar. Kakak dan mama pun ada juga, hehehe. Bolehlah diorang tolong pegang beg camera ni... Hahaha.

Pembukaan yang sudah gemilang. Tujuh Bobolian (Bomoh wanita) yang diwakili oleh tujuh orang pemimpin Daerah Kota Marudu termasuk Menteri Sains, Teknologi dan Inovasi Datuk Seri Dr. Maximus J. O ataupun lebih dikenali sebagai Dr. Max yang juga merupakan ahli Parlimen Bandau (Kota Marudu, Sabah).

Kemudian tari sketsa 'Lagenda Huminodun' pula dipertunjukkan. Terkejut sedikit. Wah! Macam state level punya kaamatan. Nasib baik kurang bermain dengan lighting. Kalau tidak, confirm macam state level punya Kaamatan.

Menjiwai watak sehingga menitiskan airmata dalam Sketsa Tari Huminodun

Teruslah keluar 14 orang peserta Unduk Ngadau Daerah Kota Marudu. Wah, boleh tahan juga peserta-peserta tahun ni tapi Unduk Ngadau last year masih di hati :p. Akhirnya yang terbaik juga menjadi pemenang. Balance daripada segi kecantikkan dan IQ. Tidak boleh berat kepada satu aspek sahaja.

The Reigning Queen - Unduk Ngadau Kota Marudu 20019
Miss Laine Leona

Persembahan artis lagilah best! Teruja sedikit. Betul-betul macam state level. Senyuman terukir. Bangga. Siapakah artis-artis itu?

Stacy

Kumpulan Sleeq

Lah - VE

Marsha

Macamana?

My Weekend - Tahniah Kota Belud!

Monday, May 24, 2010
It had been a great weekend for me. With friends celebrating my birthday to start with, I was taken aback of how many showed up at the party. I can't really thank you enough for the wishes, gifts and hand shakes. Thank you guys. Thank you very much.

That happened Friday night. This is the story that I would really like to share with all of you. The Sugandoi Competition (singing competition) held at Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association Hall (KDCA). 10 contestants were selected after the semi final held last Thursday and last Saturday night, the grand finale was held with the crowd yelling their favourites. But I have to say, the best will always be the best in their own way and this year, it goes down to Kota Belud as the winner for this year.

For those of you who are new to this, Sugandoi means star. It then refers to as The Kaamatan Star which is basically a singing competition. When crowned as the winner, it means you are a star.

And My personal comment to the winner:
Bravo Kota Belud!

These were some of the pictures I snapped during that celebrated night.

Arie Famree Sius representing Kota Belud, the winner of the 2010 Sugandoi Competition

1st runner up, representing Tawau. I can't remember the name :p

2nd runner up, from Wilayah Persekutuan Labuan

Congratulations again to all the winners especially to Arie Famree Sius from Kota Belud. I have to agree that he has that showmanship and talent to be a good singer and performer. And to all the other contestants, you guys have proved that The Land Below The Wind has much to offer in the field of entertainment. The judges must have had a very hard time deciding the winners, I'm quite sure of it but at the end of the day, they have to choose only one and this time, it's from Kota Belud. Well done and congratulations Arie Famree Sius, I declare myself as one of your fan.

Till my next posting guys. I leave you guys with two of Arie Famree Sius's clips of the competition.

Sodop Gala Nite Kaamatan Daerah Kota Marudu

Friday, May 21, 2010
Memang langkah kanan betul.

Miss Cahaya Bridal, Miss Popular, Miss Fotogenik, Miss Congeniality dan Miss Body Beautiful

Banyaklah acara menarik semalam.

Wednesday, May 19, 2010
SAYA sangat suka camping!

Hahaha... Excited sikit. Mungkin banyak sikit...

Ahli khemah menunggu giliran

Diorang bersama instructor diorang

Si Rana mencuba flying fox

Ni si Nick Neo. Baru Form 4 tapi girlfriend dia Form 5 sudah ah... hahaha...

Ni pula si Helvicks. Antara student paling rapat dengan saya...
Girlfriend dia Form 4. Dia ni Form 5. Hehehe...

Hahaha :)

Dear ('-')

Wednesday, May 19, 2010
It's been a long time since I last heard from you.
How have you been lately?
Hope things are well for you there.
Is it still cold there?
Just put on extra sweater and I think you'll be fine.

It's the busiest week yet for me at work now.
Got to manage my time wisely, I know.
It's exam week and at the same time reports and paper works due dates are at the corner since it's close to mid term school break.
I wonder if you remember how it felt like 'celebrating' holidays.

Well, I won't take much of your time but I really hope this letter finds you well.
I can't really be with you all the time, physically and emotionally but please remember that I'm working as hard as you too to make this work.

Above all, I just want to say that I miss you and I can't stop thinking about you.

Hugs and kisses to you
Take care and till then...

This letter is like this if I only have the gut to send it...

Let Go

Thursday, May 13, 2010
Have you ever read any books by Andrew Matthews? I have to say it's a real deal reading his book and somehow somewhere, his book may be to bold and direct; towards me. I came to read his book since early this year and I have to be honest that I don't really agree of his way describing things.

But every time I feel sad or depressed, I will always find the strength when reading his book. It helps me deals with things I'm sad about.

Recently, a long lost friends (two actually) suddenly called. Although it didn't happened on the same day but both of them came with the same intention; they need someone to hear them. At first it seems awkward as they were telling me their stories. All I can do is hear and speak where necessary because I don't really know what happened and judging is something is will never do.

They, both of them, called me continuously for a week or two and to my surprise, it sparked the feeling of comfortableness and I started giving advices and opinions. When I were about to have a feeling of connection with them, they suddenly stop calling and stop sending text, which is understandable that they were through with their problems. I realized that I am just someone for them to 'let go' and although I was okay with it, it hurts me to the fact that our friendships are based on problems.

Last night was the night I felt so miserable and I took the time to read Andrew Matthew's Happiness In Hard Times. I specifically turned to the title "Let Go" which made me realize how much stress I have put myself on. I learned that wanting things is alright and that hoping a better future starts to work today. But what I learned most was that I am what I chose to become and certainly I don't want to choose sadness. I'm not surprised actually. That's the nature of it. People tend to turn to God in time of distress. Not that much different for people too.

Yes, I miss the time when we are talking to each other but I need to move on and be happy. At least, they know that whenever they needed a friend, I'm here for them. And they knew that.

Sabah Fest Arung Salamiah Part 2 - Arung Salamiah

Thursday, May 13, 2010
The month-long Sabah Fest kicked off here tonight with a splendid performance of a musical entitled “The Legend of Arung Salamiah”.

The love story, which made its debut at this year’s Sabah Fest, mesmerised the audience as they watched the various cultural dances and traditions of the people of Sabah, a living example of the 1Malaysia concept.

The legend tells the story of Arung Salamiah, a beautiful woman from an aristocratic family who only had her eyes on Tanjung Kalang despite being surrounded by admirers.

Her family did not approve of her love for Tanjung Kalang who was from a different social class, and planned to marry her off to someone of the same status.

In what is seen as a show of frustration, Tanjung Kalang embarked on a journey across Sabah to search for his true love.

The performance also featured the culture and dances Tanjung Kalang experienced in his journey, including the Penansang dance which originates from Semporna and Sazau Bobohizan staged by the Kadazan Papar community.

Tanjung Kalang’s journey started at the scenic Pulau Boheydulang near Semporna, then across Semporna, Tawau, Sandakan, Kinabatangan, Papar, Bongawan, Tenom, Keningau and Serudong in Kalabakan before ending in Semporna.

It's Kaamatan Again

Wednesday, May 12, 2010
This is the second time I posted this particular Kaamatan clip in my blog simply because I just love this song. Enjoy and let the spirit of Kaamatan be with all of us.

Lyrics

This is Kaamatan, everyone is welcomed
No matter where you are from, we say no problem
This is Kaamatan, everyone is welcomed
And if you try the tapai, you'll say aramai...tih!

Every year in the month of May
Sabah is the place to stay
Kadazandusun harvest festival
Spirit of 'bambarayon' the source of it all

From those days even until now
We will have the Sumazau
A dance as beautiful as an ancient song
To the beat of the instruments that we called gong

'Unduk Ngadau' crowns the beauty queen
To honor 'Huminodun' sacrificed in her teens
her beauty, grace, strength and bravery
Represents the people who plants the 'padi'

Sabah Fest Arung Salamiah Part 1 - The Children

Tuesday, May 11, 2010
Thanks to Chistine aka Lumis for the tag as a photographer for the Sabah Fest 2010, I can enter for free. And not just for one night, but also the night after that. It's a great honour to capture the moments in photos as the 22nd Sabah Fest embrace the nights with colours and unique showcase of the Sabahan's Dances.

I am a true Sabahan. I know for the fact that I am from the first time I was born into this world. But I have to be honest with you. Some of the dances are new to me. I am always a fan of the festive season especially in Sabah and yet, I was taken aback knowing that, despite the experience as I used to dance before, some of the dances performed were quite rare and of course, inviting at the most point of it.

For this first part, I am happy to share with all of you the children of the breathtaking Sabah Fest 2010, Arung Salamiah.

The warrior dance of the Magunatip by young children

Dancing the Magunatip of the Murut Clan

Isn't he cute?

A 'shaky' I must say but I love this photo; a boy in a traditional Dusun attire

A girl in Bajau traditional costume

The traditional costume of the Muruts

A girl in Murut Traditional attire

A boy in a Malay costume

This is a Chinese girl wearing a traditional Dusun attire. When I snap this photo, her mother ask her to give the best smile she can give. I guess she's just too shy

I only know her by the name of Shafinaz

The talented singer, Presley Petrus from Papar

With all these photos, I am quite sure, to attend Sabah Fest again next year and the year after that.
